What After Ramadan?

AlHamdulillahi wa kafaa, was-Salatu was-salamu `alaa `ibaadihi-lladheena Stafaa
We leave the blessed month of Ramadan, its beautiful days and its fragrant nights. We leave the month of the Qur'an, taqwa, patience, jihad, mercy, forgiveness and freedom from hellfire!
Have we fulfilled the requirements of taqwa and graduated from the Ramadan school with the diploma of the god-fearing?
Have we fought our souls and desires and defeated them, or have we been overtaken by our customs and blind imitations?
Have we performed our actions in a way that fulfills the conditions for receiving mercy, forgiveness and release from the Fire?
Many questions and numerous thoughts come to the heart of the sincere Muslim, who asks and answers with truthfulness

''…and then follows it with six days in Shawwâl'' – Before Making Up Missed Days
Posted by administrator on Saturday, October 03 @ 22:04:47 AST (337 reads)
| Sheikh Fahd b. `Abd al-Rahmân al-Yahyâ|
Abû Ayyûb al-Ansârî relates that Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) says: "Whoever fasts the month of Ramadan and then follows it with six days in Shawwâl, it will be as if he had fasted the year through." [Sahîh Muslim (1163)]
A Muslim has days of the previous Ramadan fast to make up. Maybe he had been sick for a few days or maybe he had to travel. A woman almost always has days to make up, since she cannot fast when she is on her monthly period. A Muslims who has days like these to make up, is he allowed to observe voluntary fasts before doing so?
This is a question that scholars have always disagreed about. They have expressed three opinions on this matter:
1. It is forbidden to observe a voluntary fast before making up all the days one has missed in Ramadan. This is the ruling adopted by the Hanbalî school of law.
2. It is disliked to do so, but not prohibited. This is the ruling adopted by the Mâlikî and Shâfi`î schools of law.
3. It is permissible to do so. This is the view of the Hanafî school of law. It is also an alternative opinion expressed by Ahmad Ibn Hanbal that was favored by the Hanbalî jurist Ibn Qudâmah.

Zakat-ul-Fitr
Posted by administrator on Friday, September 18 @ 06:20:00 AST (418 reads)
by Shaykh Abû Bakr Jâbir al-Jaza'iry
It Ruling
Zakat-ul-Fitr is a Sunnah that is obligatory upon every individual Muslim. This is due to Ibn ‘Umar’s statement, may Allah be pleased with him:
“The Messenger of Allah made Zakat-ul-Fitr obligatory during Ramadhan as one Sa’ of dried dates or one Sa’ of barley upon the slave and the free man, the male and the female, and the young and the old of the Muslims.” (Al-Bukhari and Muslim)
Its Wisdom
From the wisdom of Zakat-ul-Fitr is that it purifies the fasting soul from the effects of useless, non-beneficial speech (or acts) and obscene speech (or behavior). Likewise, it keeps the poor and needy people from having to beg on the day of ‘Eid. Ibn ‘Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, said:
“The Messenger of Allah made Zakat-ul-Fitr obligatory as a purification for the fasting person from useless, non-beneficial speech (or acts) and obscene speech (or behavior), and as a means of feeding the poor.” (Abu Dawud and Ibn Majah, and it was graded Sahih by Al-Hakim). [1]
The Prophet saws also said:
Keep them (the poor) from having to beg on this day. (Al-Bayhaqi - and its chain of narration is weak)

Women’s attendance at Eid prayers
Posted by administrator on Thursday, September 17 @ 15:00:00 AST (490 reads)
Hafsah said: “We used to prevent prepubescent girls from attending Eid prayers. Then a woman came and stayed at the fort of Banu Khalaf, and told us about her sister. Her sister’s husband had taken part in twelve campaigns with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and [she said], ‘my sister was with him on six of them. She said, “We used to treat the wounded and take care of the sick. My sister asked the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) whether there was anything wrong with her not going out [on Eid] if she did not have a jilbaab. He said, ‘Let her friend give her one of her jilbaabs so that she may witness the blessings of Eid and see the Muslims gathering.’”’ When Um ‘Atiyah came, I asked her, ‘Did you hear the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) [say this]?’ She said, ‘May my father be sacrificed for him’ – and she never mentioned him without saying ‘may my father be sacrificed for him’ – ‘I heard him saying that we should bring out the young girls and those who were secluded, or the young girls who were secluded, and the menstruating women, so that they could witness the blessings of Eid and see the gathering of the believers, but those who were menstruating were to keep away from the prayer-place itself.”
(Saheeh al-Bukhaari, 324).

To be Among the Brave Ones this Ramadan
Posted by administrator on Wednesday, September 16 @ 03:00:24 AST (405 reads)
By Sister Mariam
A couple of years ago towards the end of this blessed month, a dear friend described the month with words which still run through my head to this day. She said, ‘Ramadan is a madrasa.’ That’s all she said; Ramadan is a school. I thought about her words a lot. Among the conclusions to which my thoughts led me was that if Ramadan was a school, then fasting must be one of the best teachers of this school. Indeed, fasting is a teacher who raises and educates the student on the principle of developing a strong will (iradah); a will which should lead to the right goal (hadaf). But this will is in need of brave figures to carry it.
Many of us have a strong will to do good, but not all of us use it. This is evident in the amount of good which comes out of people in Ramadan. The rows of the masajid are filled and it is easier for people to part with their beloved wealth. Hence they have a will, but there may exist a lack of bravery to put this strong will into practice at all times.
